THE NEW MANAGER

Enhance the ability of new and upcoming managers to manage complexities and changes for higher productivity.

THE NEW MANAGER

Objective:

The objective of this workshop is to enhance the ability and capacity of new and upcoming managers to manage complexity and change so that they can achieve greater results and higher productivity.

Background:

Middle management is a critical component of any business and as such it deserves a very specific focus. In belt tightening times middle managers are also often squeezed with increasing responsibility from the top and less support coming up from below. Therefore, middle managers have to rapidly acquire a new set of competencies.

"Jack of all and master of none" had been a tag line for most people in the management. However, the changing time demands more from all of us, especially the upcoming managers. The old proverb should no more be representing the managers. Our responsibility would be to create managers who are "jack of all but master of few". The "New Manger" programme is constantly assessed for relevance and rigor, and changes are made to ensure that the course reflects the best of what can be offered. In this newly revived programme, participants will leave with a renewed sense of self- confidence knowing that they have the power to create the future rather than waiting for the future to happen.

The training will also help in formulating a personal strategy statement to help you set the direction that you want your unit to take and then develop a short presentation. This exercise will help you to gain a better understanding of your unit and its competitive position, articulate your strategy to peers, engage in open feedback to improve it, and align activities that support your competitive advantage. Your personal strategy statement will evolve into a personal action plan.
